Ready to play?

Superhero Photo

Photography is more than a hobby — it’s a way of seeing & experiencing the world. And it’s not about technical skill, or having the latest lenses & gadgets — it’s about chasing light, capturing delight, and shifting our perspectives — literally and artistically.

Transform the way you take photos

With Superhero Photo, you will transform the way you take photos — and discover that beauty and joy are everywhere.

You’ll uncover a few of your own creative superpowers — like courage, intuition, play & trust — as you wake up & witness your real life. And capture it!

Anyone with a camera is invited to participate. (Point and shoots + camera phones are totally welcome) Join me for this 6-week adventure. It’s a whole world of color, artistry & self-discovery — it all begins on Monday, May 16th, 2016!

Here’s what you’ll discover, inside:

  • Fresh themes, every week.
Impromptu self-portraits, hidden treasures, composition, color, and more.
  • No-sweat technical lessons.
Superhero Photo is focused on play & self-expression, but you’ll learn the fundamentals of aperture, lighting, post-processing, and more.
  • Treasure hunts!
Download a collection of creative photo prompts, to inspire a spontaneous photography adventure.
  • Interviews, galore.
Inspiring chats with super-talented photographers, like Tracey Clark, Vivienne McMaster, Anna Kuperberg, Andrea (Hula) Jenkins, and Tara Whitney.
  • Community cheerleading.
A warm & encouraging community space on Flickr to share & admire our work.

A fresh perspective on photography…and possibility.

A new way into joy and gratitude

Superhero Photo has been more than just a photography course; it has felt more like a celebration of life with a friend who has been helping me to experience more joy in the world around me and to express that joy through photography. -Tamara, Superhero Photo student

Superhero Photo altered how I saw the world. I got down on the ground, climbed on chairs and tables, went out in all colors and weights of light, looked close and far away, and went on treasure hunts. I took some of the most magical pictures I ever had, and I haven’t stopped taking them.

- Jill Salahub

What I believe

  • I believe that there is an opportunity to create extraordinary images right outside your door.
  • I believe that you don’t need fancy equipment or advanced technical skills to create gorgeous work.
  • I believe that creativity is an access point to personal growth and that by exploring our creativity we become more brave, more intuitive and more alive.
  • I believe that when we do it together, it’s way more fun.

How My E-Courses Work

  • Online, at your pace:
Four days a week (on a private web site) I will be offering lessons, exercises and photo prompts that will help you explore your world in a rich, deep and colorful way. You will be inspired and engaged in a playful process while learning to wield your camera like nobody’s business. You will also receive each lesson in your inbox so you can go at your own pace and see your lessons with your mobile device. You can also kick it old school and print out the lessons, treasure hunts and other goodies and work them at your leisure.
  • Only as much time as you want
Your level of involvement is completely up to you! The lessons are designed to be digested quickly and for maximum FUN. The real joy will be when you’re out with your camera, so if a daily practice isn’t in the cards, even once a week will be just right!
  • Share when you’re moved to
There will be a private Flickr group for the students in this course to connect, share and learn from each other. This will be a safe place for encouragement, not a place to critique.
  • Nothing fancy to start off right
You’ll need access to the internet, a digital camera (both point-and-shoots and DSLR’s are great) and an email address to send your payment via Paypal. You will also need a Flickr account if you want to share your work.
  • Gift it – to yourself or a loved one
Gift certificates are now available at the cost of the course ($99USD). Just add it to your cart by clicking here and you’ll get a colorful PDF certificate to give that allows the recipient to sign up for a future class that works for them.
