Parking Day is tomorrow, Friday the 21st everybody! Find out where the parks will be in your area and check em out. I think there should be more parks every day of the year!

This is me and the other Rebar guys with the Parkcycle in progress. As you can see, it is going to be amazing! especially when there is green grass, a tree and a park bench on top.

And it's pedal powered... Come by and see us in front of the Civic Center tomorrow afternoon. We are taking over the mayor's parking space!

I love Ben's quizzical look. I love the man shot of work in progress.... but I love most the red and green boots. Where or where can a girl(or guy) find those!!!???

This morning when I read the Oregonian, I was very happy to see that (Park)ing Day was celebrated here in Portland. The park, created by a local architecture firm, made the front page of the paper.I have also shared the video you posted on your blog a couple of months ago and it worked its way through the college community quickly. A small group at OSU is plotting a park for next year. I love watching this green energy spread.

Our school celebrated PARK(ing) Day and Peace Day today. The kids had a blast building a mini park in our school parking lot! We had a puppet theater, lemonade stand, sand boxes, and story time. Plus a few neighborhood residents, our alderman, and county supervisor stopped in for a visit. I think the kids loved constructing the park the most - they dug laying sod. Plus we had great discussions about why parks are important to people. REBAR and TPL rocks!

i was bummed that work was going to keep me from participating in parking day, so i hadn't even looked up the locations around me, and lo and behold! i arrived at work this morning to find the chicagoland bicycle federation setting up a park right outside my office! yay! i will certainly be spending my lunch hour in the new park!

That is an AMAZING picture of Ben. His facial expression, I can't stop looking at it.

Oh my goodness...I see his "little boy" face (versus his "baby/infant" face) coming out!

Go Ben! 21 September is also interntational Peace Day - one day in the year when people from all parties to all conflicts are encouraged to stop fighing for 24 hours. It seems a fitting companion to Parking Day. Everyone can cease fire for one day and go lie in the park. You think you could get one of those mobile parks here to Ghor? Actually several cities in Afghanistan used Peace Day to inaugurate new parks...

I saw this mentioned on Daily Candy Everywhere (today's weekend guide) and thought of you and your husband. It was also mentioned earlier in the week on GapersBlock, a Chicago site.

Good luck!
